Next Meeting:
Our February meeting will once again be held at the Shoney's Restaurant on Highland at 7:00p.m. in Jackson. We need to be sure and let the staff at Shoney's now how much we appreciate their hospitality. We were welcomed with open arms on short notice at our January meeting, and everything went very smooth. You are welcome to get a bite to eat, have a glass of tea, or just come to join the meeting. Hope to see you Tuesday, February 12th , 7p.m. at Shoney's!

January Happening:
JEA has decided not to apply the Bio-Solids to our field this year, although this has allowed us to continue to fly throughout January, it has also eliminated some much needed fertilizer we were expecting to receive. Because of this, the club will probably have to purchase some fertilizer in early spring to help promote the growth of our grass. We also planted some rye grass in the parking area and the pit area to hopefully speed up the process of giving us an solid base to work with. If you have been to the field lately, you know that it has been rather soft and messy. If you haven't and you go out after a rain, you probably want to park at the end of the gravel, and carry your planes to the pit area.

And speaking of grass, we are now the proud owners of a 100" diesel powered Jacobson reel mower like the one used to mow fairways on a golf course. If that won't give us one of the most manicured runways around, I don't know what will. We plan on putting together a check list to use when operating this mower, because as you can imagine, this mower needs to last us for years to come. So if you are operating one of the club mowers, please take extra care of them both. A large Thank You goes out to all involved in acquiring this great piece of machinery.

Our main project that has to be tackled soon, is the remodeling of our storage trailer, please come prepared with ways to help make this happen. I think you will notice on your next trip to the field, that the trees on the north end of the field that were in the center of the runway have been removed. I will not mention names for fear of leaving someone out, but Thank You All!!

The time has also come to elect new club officers, so if you don't want to get elected, you might want to attend this meeting, we have been known to pick on the ones who can't defend themselves.
