What a turn out on a cloudy day with rain in the forecast! When I arrived around 1:30pm, Jimmy Gibson and Mike Carlton were the only ones there and I really didn't expect much of a turn out. Was I ever wrong.
Dennis Patterson became the hero of the day for Denny Duncan. Denny had an engine quit on that low wing hot rod he fly's. I can't remember the name of it but it has the glide slope of a turtle dropped from a plane. He did a great job of milking all he could from the glide but it wasn't enough and ended in the ditch at the north end of the runway and about 50 feet from the beaver dam. While Denny and Jimmy Gibson went to get poles and rope for retrival Porky and I decided wading up stream would be the easiest. Dennis decided it would be best to just climb down the bank and snach it by the fin. Dennis made it look easy as can be seen in the pictures by Mike Carlton.
Jeff Cowan was there with a video of Saturday's combat with Tim and Alex and was trying to get everyone to watch as he won the first combat and the crash between him and Tim in the second.
I spent most of my time working on my Spacewalker but I finally gave up on it. I did get one flight on my Somethin' EXTRA before the rain came. I didn't get many pictures but Mike Carlton emailed me 17 which make up the majority of the ones below.
Thanks Mike!
