Sunday  8/11/02

Jimmy Gibson sent me these pictures from Sunday This is what he had to say:

Jimbo,
This was a very good weekend at the WTRC Flying Field.   It was very hot!!!!!!!!   for the meeting Saturday, but we had a few diehard members for the meeting.   As usual Tim Trenoff, Tim Morris, and Mike Grippen are working to improve the field.   There was one new member (Kurt "can't remember his last name") voted on and was passed.   Mike Grippen is going to put down fertilizer one more time for the summer.   Since the club does not have much money any donations would be appreciated.   The new hats and shirts are in, so everybody should contact Tim Trenoff, Tim Blankenship, or Danny Wheeler for getting your shirts or hats.   Everbody agreed that Mike Grippen is the "HERO OF THE MONTH" for this month and many past months for all the work on the flying field.   In case everybody hasen't noticed it we have a beautiful flying field, thanks to many members especially Mike Grippen and Rich Johnson.
Sunday was a beautiful and not as hot day.   I thought we would have to put up a control tower to handle all the traffic.   I have not seen this many planes and people since spring.   Everybody had a good time and no crashes that I know of.

New Airplanes:

Dennis Patterson (a very good flyer) had a new Ultrasport 40 with a Super Tiger engine.   I think he is known as the "COTTON PATCH AWARD" winner or the Tim Trenoff low inverted pass harassment king.
Tim Trenoff with his new Decathlon "Beautiful Plane" (ask Tim when you see him how much he enjoys working on new planes)
David Broach brought his new Cub.   He didn't ask anybody to try it out first, he just took off and it flew well and he got it back in one piece.   "WHAT A MAN" I am sorry I did'nt get any pictures, but I will next time.

Mike Grippen brought his Lazy Ace out to try out the engine, but I did'nt hear if he flew it or not.

Jeff Layman told me about Pat Finney's new Corsair.   Jeff flew it for Pat and I think Jeff was very enthralled with it.   "Time to bring back the Texan" I also got to see Jeff's "NEW GETTO WAGON" , it is a sharp old car.   I will try to get pictures later.

Jeff Cowan and Cory attended the meeting Saturday on Jeff's new Ninja motorcycle.   I think we gave him enough grief about not having an airplane he was back on Sunday with planes.

Scott Hubbell came to the field Sunday.   He brought his "SOMETHING EXTRA" , but he did"nt have much time to fly it.   We have two new young men comming to the field in the process of learning to fly.   Jeb Williams landed for the first time today.   I cannot remember the other young mans name, but he is doing very well too.

Chris brought half of his "FOUR STAR 60", its not ready to fly yet so I told him I would not take a picture of it until it is finished.   As usual Chris is flying great on his Stik.   "WISH I WAS YOUNG"

We should also keep Anthony Hardin and Pat Finney in our thoughts and prayers.   Anthony's grandmother passed away this weekend, and Pat Finneys sister recently passed.

I am sure I left something out, but this is all I know for this week.   I really think it is time to give up the river and come back fly with us.

Come back and see us.

Jimmy

Jimmy thanks for all the pictures and information about the meeting.
