The following comments were sent to me by Jimmy Gibson. Thanks Jimmy ;o)
Well let me first say I owe a big apology to Denny Duncan, Tom Gray (flying
his Ultra Stik 40 great), and Jeff Layman for not mentioning them
on the Saturday narrative, and I am sure I have forgotten someone else.
Denny, Jeff, and Mike Grippin worked very hard working with the new
trainees Saturday and Sunday, thanks to all. What a beautiful day January the fifth was, beautiful sunshine and no wind (who would have thunk it).
We had a large crowd today, and looking back at the last few weeks if we
keep this kind of crowds up we are going to need a control tower.
Speaking of forgetting someone, one of our newest members David Huff
soloed on his Avistar today (flew great didn't even hit the fence).
He has been out for the last three or four weekends on the buddy box with
Mike Grippin. This guy soloed about as quickly as anybody I know of
(except for these young punks).
By the way a special message to the club president " this guy is a real carpenter" if you get my hint!!!!!!
All joking aside David has come a long way in a very short period of time
and is a "hoot" to be around.
Unfortunately Brian Moyer crashed his Avistar into the woods to the east of
the field. The rule of thumb that was told to me from the beginning if you fly RC aircraft sooner or later you will crash them. Hopefully this will be Brian's last one. Jeff McCarter came out with his son Brandon and put him on the buddy box for the first time (I think). I did not get to see them fly but I will bet he will be soloing soon. By the way, Brandon is only six years old
;o)I am sure I have forgotten somebody or something, but it sure was a great day in
West Tennessee.
See everybody next weekend,
Jimmy
Jimmy forgot to mention that he also spent a lot of time helping with the training.
I forgot to welocme Larry Johnson. Larry has an Avistar and is flying with us.
I also want everyone to know that Jeff Layman DID bring TWO planes to the flying field today. He didn't fly them BUT he did BRING them. For those of you that don't know, Jeff is one of our most experienced instructor pilots and I always rag him about coming out without any planes. Most of the time he is training new flyers or trimming out new planes for others and usually doesn't get to fly his own. He is also a founding member of the club. I wouldn't have said anything nice about him but it's after midnight and I've been working on the website since I got back from the flying field so please forgive this ;O) I'll try not to do it again! Sorry!
