Nice day with 50 degree weather but gusting winds.

The following comentary and pictures are from Jimmy Gibson.  Thanks Jimmy

Well   Jimbo the weather is great for the WTRC,  the sun is bright and it is windy and cold as crap.   But the diehard flyers were out in force today.   Mike Grippin was out with his 4Star40,  this was just a small part of his load from Louisiana.   He had a few problems with the trim (very exciting to see) and with the wind blowing like it was he decided to leave it on the ground for today.   Pat Finney and his dad were out today with his "Joss Stik",  and flew many times.   It was good to see Mr.  Finney (Pat's Dad) flying again,  and may I say very well from take-off to landing.   John Lewis and Pat Finny both brought out Great Planes Ju-87 Stuka's and John showed what a scale plane can do in the wind.   Jeff McCarter came out and flew his 40 Ultra Stik,  good to see you back Jeff!!.   Mike Krueger brought his newly recovered Avistar.   This guy is simply amazing from doing knife-edges,  inverted flight,  and god now's what with a trainer,  to doing a professional covering job on his first try.   Chris Lay flew his Ultra Stik 40,  it still ticks me off he is so much better flyer than me, but I have an excuse I am old.   Chris has a beautiful new Giles G-202 had fuel tank problem so he could not fly it (always next week).   Victor Stevenson (new trainee)was out fighting the wind,  and doing very well.   Mike Grippin is helping our newest young member Brian Moyer.   From what I saw he was doing pretty good.   As you can see from the pictures our club president graced us with his presence,  but I think it was too cold for his Ohio blood.  (Good to see you back Tim) I don't know if it is global warming or what but we are having some fine flying weekends in December and so far in January.   Hope to see everybody next weekend.

Jimmy

The first picture will be of Mike Grippin's haul from Louisiana

The following comments are from an email I got from Mike ;O)

I got a picture I want to send to you,  as soon as I get it pulled out.   I just got back from Louisiana,  visiting my father in law.   One of his buddies took one look at what I was driving (Gails Durango),  and he said looks like I'd only be going home with 2 planes.   Well,  with an excellent packing job,  I managed to stuff 3 1/4 scale planes and wings in it,  PLUS an Eagle 63 (my first trainer) and a 4*40, along with a bunch of radios,  and misc junk.   Found the pic,  here it is:

Bottom left is a "scratch built" Stinson Reliant,  that's 1/2 of the wing,  laying underneath it.    It has never been flown,  even though it is 10 years old.   On the right, bottom is a scratch built Waco,  only flown once for 10 minutes.   Suspended in the middle is an old kit that was my first attempt at building a 1/4 scale called a lazy bird,  it's wing is hanging from the roof,  and goes from back door,  all the way up to the rear view mirror.   (Darn thing kept banging me in the head on the way home.   Sitting on top of the Stinson is an Eagle 63,  and the 4Star40 was in the front passenger seat.   Those wings laying in the center floor.

He still has a couple more fore me,  and I swear I could have gotten at least the Cub in there with them,   but thought I'd wait for a next trip.
